Making an entrance - Syrilth - 12-05-2020

In the darker area of the bustling kingdom, set within an alleyway, a portal sparked to life.  It began to hum, causing some to look as Syrilth stumbled through.  She never stumbled, the portal had literally spat her through making her skid onto the cobblestone.  Her wings spanned out earning a gasp.  They were immense, they had to be to pick up her large and muscled figure.  Her eyes immediately saw those nearby and stared at them for a second before whirling around.  "What is this?!" Some things never changed, for her temper still flared up when she was surprised - again - by magic.  The portal shimmered and crackled with lightning before it suddenly stopped as if it didn't just send her in this dark area.

She heard the whispers nearby and wasn't afraid to stare at them outright.  They whispered about her wings, wings that she had so many years ago earned.  She had come upon something that had sent her here while searching for her long lost love, Isolde, but to no avail.  Little hope flared within her but curiosity of where she was won out.  "You three!  Where am I?"  She walked up to towards them, her wings folding behind her in a relax position, while her hooves clopped and thudded on the stone.  They looked up at before one of them cleared their throat.  "Why you're in the dark parts of the kingdom, traveler.  The Isles of Volatilis, ruled by King - "  They stopped, for she was already walking away.

This place was like nothing she had ever seen.  There were tall structures and as she walked through the alleyway, no one dared to walk towards her even though she stared at them for a while.  Was she so intimidating?  Surely she couldn't have been the only dragonic horse they've ever seen.  Syrilth let out a snort, remembering the times some did who were fearful of her while others weren't back so long ago.  She finally got out of the alleyway and dark part, she could see that pegasi were seen everywhere both walking and in the air.  So many of them!  Her eyes narrowed to block the sun, which was always a welcome sight.  Some had armor and some didn't, just like her.  Up ahead was a market but she wasn't a fan of a crushing crowd, so she kept to the outer areas.

If she was here, she needed to find out what here consisted of.  So it was time to explore as much as possible, a feat she had done many times that it was done without hesitation.

RE: Making an entrance - Luvena - 12-05-2020

She didn't know how long it had been since her hooves had touched Elysiums sands. She had wandered for so long, that magic seemed an unfamiliar sight once more. Immortality, health, and grace had left her bones gradually the moment Elysium had crumbled, and once again she wandered as a skeletal figment of a beautiful woman. Coming through the portal had been horrifying. Luvena Xiaoli was no stranger to pain, it plagued her endlessly, but the pings of electricity rivaled that. She was tossed around, jolted, and finally thrown to the ground of an unfamiliar land. ground that felt somehow... unsteady. It didn't shake, or give under her hooves... but it felt almost as if it weren't really there.

There were a few nearby where she'd landed, and the looks she was given were... dirty, to say the least. All three of them were winged,  which she didn't think strange, after all, birds of a feather flock together. She didn't stick around long. She pulled herself to her feet, wobbling on thin legs, holding back a small cry as pain sprung through her left foreleg. Clearly not broken, but sprained. The pegasi were beginning to whisper - though whisper was a generous term - she could catch bits and pieces. "-doesn't even have wings!" "Barely strong enough to walk out of the portal-"

"Yara!" she called back, ignoring the others. She'd gone into the portal with her. as if on cue a mass of fur tumbled out, landing far more elegantly than she had. 'I'm here' the leonberger replied, trotting up to her side. Immediately Luvena leaned into her for support. She made her way out of the area quickly.

It didn't take long for her to discover she was not welcomed here. Everyone had wings, all of them, and not one would speak to her. They hadn't ventured far from the portal, instead hunkering down in a dark corner, where not many seemed to gather, trying to stay out of view until her leg had healed enough to find somewhere safer. It only took a few days to heal, and Luvena and Yara had planned to leave at midday but were interrupted, by someone leaving the alleyway.

The figure was.. familiar. She should have recognized her immediately, but so much time had passed, and in that time she had seen so many faces, and places, that most of the faces she'd once known had been lost to time. She could not shake it though, that she knew them, and it was not until she caught their scent on the wind that it flooded back to her.

The smell of desert sands, so faint she could have mistaken it as her imagination, if she had not carried that essence within her for so long, had it not, for a time at least, engrained them both in the stars. She had to stand there a moment, blink to be sure. Her time in Lyrus may have been muddied in her head after all this time, but it was not forgotten. Trembling on weak legs, she forced them into a trot, terrified that if she didn't move fast enough she would lose the woman crossing the path.

She came to a dead stop a few feet away, holding her head higher then she had in months. "Syritlh?" her voice was so soft she wasn't even sure it would be heard. full of doubt, and fear that she was mistaken.

RE: Making an entrance - Syrilth - 12-05-2020

Syrilth was both impressed and outright frustrated.  Everyone was either too busy, found her appearance "dirty" or just stared at her in awe.  Really, who and what did these equines and cervines do?!  Stay at home all day?  With a toss of her head and snort, she began to walk back to the portal again.  Maybe she could get the hell out of here.

Her ears flicked as a familiar voice called out her name.  Surely no one here but several who knew her name.  It was a name that was outlandish to some.  Unless they read minds.  Ugh, she hated that magic the most.  Not because she would be shameful, but how it had lack of privacy. That's when she heard the whispers.  "She's so sickly."  "She has no wings!  The nerve of her showing her face here!"  "How dare she walk among us?!"  "Just what is that THING beside her?"  "Those portals always bring such...such...wingless commoners more within our home!"

Syrilth stared down at mare, her mind immediatley knowing who she was, but before she answered her, she glared sharply at those who were whispering cowardly nearby.

"How disgusting of you all, wingless is she?  I care not.  She is my friend.  So beat it already, be gone!"  She spat, baring her fangs while spanning out her wings.  They were like storm clouds, black and eerie, casting shadows over some short enough and over Luvena protectively like many years ago when she found the mare sickly in the desert.

"The nerve!"
"Oh what a horrible ungrateful - "

Syrilth summoned white fire, hoping it would scare them.  It did, causing a small panic before immediately willing the fire away.  "Idiots."  Her bat companion woke up finally from its hiding spot in her mane groggily before falling back to sleep.  The portal really did a number on him.  She turned back to Luvena, her wings and composure relaxing. "Is that really you, Luvena?"

She didn't flinch at the words. Though these ones spat rather for a different reason, she was no stranger to being spoken about. Though in herstial that hadn't dared to do so loudly, they still spoke of her when they thought she wasn't listening. She did however flinch as Syrilth spun fire at them.

Even so, she all but barrelled into the mare, butting her bony head into the woman's strong shoulders. "Of course fate would have it that we meet again" she murmured. She could only imagine what Syrilth thought though looking at her now. last time they had seen each other she had not looked this way. she'd held copper armor, and stars in her pelt, and now... she was back to where she had been when they'd first met. disgraced and disheveled. Yara came up beside her, tail wagging softly, 'Is this the one from Lyrus?' she asked, 'the desert?'  Lu nodded in a quiet response.

I take it you came through a portal as well? we've been here for just over a week... they don't..." she hesitated, glancing around. "They don't take kindly to us here, we were about to find somewhere else to go"

RE: Making an entrance - Syrilth - 12-05-2020

She hadn't expected Luvena to ram into her, but Syrilth didn't even budge from her footing.  Fate.  Fate indeed.  How she wished that it gave her more than this, but she would take it.  One face she knew would make this easier even though she was quite independent.  She could survive by herself, but having a friend would be even better.  She gave Luvena a playful nudge with her nose on the other mare's cheek.  An interesting creature came up to Luvena and it reminded of Syrilth of Luvena's other companions.  "Good thing too."  She studied Luvena, the familiar sight of the appearance made her worry again.  More so that now others in this world looked down on the sick.  She too had done so before...   With a mental shudder, Syrilth shoved that away.  That wasn't who she was anymore.

"Yeah, that annoying magical thing just threw me in here like I was nothing.  I can still feel the lightning."  Her hindqaurters twitched on cue, before one of her hind legs lifted and stomped quietly.  At the mention of others not being kind, Syrilth snorted.  "They're fools, Luvena.  I'm here now, they'll mostly look at me since apparently I'm..."  A catch?  Awespiring?  "Who knows what they think.  Let's go find someone who has sense in their head like we do."  She began to walk slowly, waiting for Luvena.  Two soldiers were making others ahead of them partway on their patrols, well not forcefully, but their presence made it so.  They weren't glaring, they were neutral in expression.  It seemed more like respect than anything.

"Hmmm...  Those two soldiers in the glistening armor, we could ask them."  As they came near, Syrilth stepped forward, not caring if she got in their way.  They narrowed their eyes and stared up at her.  Thankfully they didn't drop their jaw or whatever others did.  Finally, someone who didn't find her unusual.
